EXHIBITION・EVENT

A short trip to reconnect the senses
Around Incense, Nishijin-Kinran Cloth, and Onomatopoeia

Nishijin-ori is one of the representative of Japanese traditional fabrics which has more than 555 years of history in Nishijin area. Among them, Nishijin-Kinran is a luxurious fabric made using a gold leaf, which has been used for various purposes, such as in religious scene, traditional doll and Japanese hanging scroll to adorn the Japanese essence. We reconsidered the cultures of fabric (Nishijin-ori) and fragrance (incense), which have both been natured in Kyoto, from a modern perspective. We would like to introduce unique fabrics made by students from Saga Art University, which show the new aspects of incense. We hope you enjoy the combination of stimulating experiences with sense of smell, sight and touch while on a space journey around the planets of Onomatopoeia.
